AK’s artistic journey began at a young age when she discovered her fascination with various art forms. Exploring different mediums, she experimented with paints, clay, Dance and singing, constantly seeking new ways to capture the essence of her surroundings. It was during a serendipitous encounter with resin that AK's creative path took an unexpected turn.
Entranced by the fluidity and translucency of resin, AK recognized its potential as a medium to convey the delicate balance between chaos and harmony present in the natural world. As an artist, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering support and encouragement you have shown me throughout my artistic journey, here, on my instagram, threads or when you have visited me in person at my popup shops in and around the SF bay-area.
Art has always been my sanctuary—a realm where imagination knows no bounds and emotions flow freely. It is within the realm of colors, canvas, resin, clay and textures that I find solace and a sense of fulfillment. Leaving my country and home behind to pursue my masters of science in horticulture was not just challenging but left me feeling misaligned with my purpose and was forced to rediscover myself in a whole new space.
Post my graduation, as an immigrant, I could not just pursue art and be an entrepreneur as being on a work visa, I had to hold a science degree and be working in the science/tech field. Having worked as a Research Scientist for a good number of years, I made a soft transition into a tech firm as marketer while hustling with my then- no name business of selling my paintings, greeting cards and beaded jewelry to build the right resources and infrastructure for my resin art creations.I am profoundly humbled by the way my art career has shaped.
TalkingThyme, My brand that hosts various of my art projects and functional decors today, was born in my darkest and toughest times with a sole purpose to create a pathway and generate employment for all those women especially immigrants to carve a creative path for themself which is not just a hobby but good enough to pay their bills and help them create a good lifestyle for their families. I am always amazed at the way art has the power to transcend barriers and touch the hearts of those who view it. To witness the profound impact my art has had on your lives is both a privilege and a responsibility. It fuels my creative fire and pushes me to explore new frontiers, experimenting with different mediums, techniques, and ideas. This also gives me a sense of confidence that I could inspire many more women who wish to set their foot on this path.
Through my work, I strive to evoke emotions, provoke introspection, and ignite conversations that transcend language and culture. This is the underlying purpose of my brand-TalkingThyme: The most organic way of using my Time -Thyme in creating sustainable art that Talks timelessly.
